About GLA University

It was the year 1998, when Shri Narayan Das Agrawal decided to fulfill the dream of his father, Late Shri Ganeshi Lal Agrawal, of establishing an institute for quality education for the people and the region & beyond. Our honorable Chancellor, Shri Narayan Das Agrawal established Sri Jagannath Prasad Ganeshi Lal Bajaj Charitable Trust Samiti in an attempt to make the holy city Mathura a recognized destination for knowledge seekers from different spheres of life and parts of the country. This paved the way for the establishment of a significant milestone at the karmabhoomi of the versatile and wise Lord Krishna.

GLA University, located in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, is a prominent private state university recognized for its commitment to academic excellence, research, and industry-relevant education. It is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956, and accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an 'A+' grade and a score of 3.46 – making it India's No.1 NAAC A+ accredited private university. The university is also approved by AICTE, NCTE, PCI, BCI, and other relevant bodies.

History and Establishment

The roots of GLA University trace back to 1998 when the GLA Group of Institutions was founded by philanthropist Shri Narayan Das Agrawal to fulfill his father Shri Ganeshi Lal Agrawal's dream of providing quality technical education in Mathura. It began as an institute of technology and management, starting with a modest faculty of 17 members. In 2010, it was elevated to university status through the GLA University Act by the Uttar Pradesh State Legislature. Over the years, it has grown exponentially, now boasting over 700 faculty members and offering nearly 80 courses.

Vision: To be a pace-setting university of academic excellence focused on education, research, and development in established and emerging professions.

Mission: To impart quality professional education, conduct commendable research, provide credible consultancy and extension services as per current and emerging socio-economic needs; continuously enhance the teaching-learning process; and set standards that other institutes aspire to emulate. The university emphasizes a blend of values, ethics, innovation, and global citizenship.

Academic Structure

GLA University offers over 90 multi-disciplinary programs across diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels in fields like Engineering & Technology (Computer Science, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, etc.), Management, Pharmacy, Law, Education, Applied Sciences, Humanities, Biotechnology, and more. Flagship programs include BTech (with specializations like CSE in partnership with IBM), MBA, MTech, BPharm, and PhD. It also provides online degrees through its Centre for Distance and Online Education (e.g., BBA, BCA, MBA). Admissions are primarily through the GLA Entrance Test (GLAET), along with national exams like JEE Main, CUET, CAT, MAT, GATE, etc.

The university has 14 departments and 9 institutes, supported by over 700 qualified faculty and 1,000 staff members.

Research and Facilities

GLA promotes research through advanced labs, research centers, and collaborations (national and international). Key facilities include a central library with a vast collection and e-resources, computer centers, and specialized labs. It has a strong focus on innovation, with initiatives like partnerships with IBM for emerging tech specializations.
