Introduction 

Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT) is the first private Engineering Institute to be established in the city of Pune, Maharashtra. It is one of the premier institutes for Indian and international students offering Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in Engineering, Management, Medicine, Pharmacy, Design, and so on. Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT), Pune, founded in 1983 by Prof. Vishwanath D. Karad under the Maharashtra Academy of Engineering and Educational Research (MAEER), is a pioneering private engineering college that evolved into MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU) in 2017, offering multidisciplinary UG/PG/PhD programs on the Kothrud campus with a focus on value-based education blending science, technology, and spirituality.​

History and Establishment

Conceived in 1981 amid Maharashtra's push for private engineering colleges, MIT became one of the first nine (established Aug 5, 1983) with initial classes in borrowed spaces; grew from MAEER's vision to a deemed university in 2017.​
