About Us

Maitreyi College, a constituent college of University of Delhi and an eminent institution of higher education was established in 1967. Named after the renowned Vedic scholar Maitreyi, wife of sage Yajnavalakya , the college has undertaken a glorious journey of evolution in its five decades and onwards, with numerous achievements in academics, research, cultural and community engagement under its name. The college is proud to earn an A++ Grade in its second cycle of NAAC accreditation and it also carries the distinction of Star College for its Science Departments, conferred by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. It is amongst the top 6 colleges of University of Delhi to have received this title. For the current year, the college has an all-India NIRF rank of 36.

History & Establishment

The college was established in July 1967 as a constituent college of the University of Delhi. Since its inception, it has grown steadily in academic strength and infrastructure. The college has earned recognition for its academic standards and is proud to have been awarded an A++ Grade in its recent NAAC accreditation cycle. Additionally, it holds the prestigious Star College status conferred by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, for its outstanding Science departments—Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Maitreyi College offers a wide array of courses with 35 undergraduate and 3 postgraduate programs across six streams including Science, Arts, and Commerce. Admissions 2025-26

Admissions to Maitreyi College for the 2025-26 session are conducted as per the University of Delhi’s centralized admission process. Candidates are selected based on merit in qualifying exams and CUET scores, following reservation policies. Admission notifications, eligibility criteria, and cut-offs are published online, with a transparent selection system for various courses.
