Introduction

Delhi College of Arts and Commerce (DCAC) is a co-educational constituent college of the University of Delhi, established in 1987 in Netaji Nagar, South Campus, New Delhi, and partially funded by the Government of NCT Delhi. It serves over 2,500 students with a focus on arts, commerce, and journalism programs, earning recognition as one of Delhi University's most sought-after institutions despite operating in a building owned by the Department of Higher Education.​​

History

DCAC originated from the closure of G.D. Salwan College in Rajinder Nagar and pioneered Delhi University's three-year BA (Hons) Journalism program in 1989. The college has grown into a hub for academic excellence, blending traditional values with modern education through dedicated faculty and staff.​

Academics

DCAC offers 18 undergraduate honors and program courses under CBCS and FYUP modes, including BCom (Hons), BA (Hons) in Journalism, English, Economics, Political Science, Hindi, History, and BSc (Hons) Computer Science. Add-on and self-financed courses cover skill development, English proficiency, and NSDC-aligned programs, with initiatives on gender, environment, human rights, and ICT via societies and outreach.​​

Rankings and Facilities

In 2020, it ranked 26th among commerce colleges and 31st among arts colleges by India Today; in 2024, it placed 97th in NIRF's top 100 colleges. Facilities include anti-ragging and internal complaints committees, NSS, NCC, and a 5-acre campus near INA and AIIMS metro stations, led by Principal Prof. Rajiv Chopra.​​
