Introduction 

Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth (DPU), Pimpri, Pune, a non-profit deemed-to-be university established in 2003 under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956, originated from the Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College founded in 1996, now spanning a 43-acre campus in Sant Tukaram Nagar with over 5,000 students across medicine, dentistry, allied health, biotechnology, physiotherapy, nursing, and management programs.

History and Establishment

Founded by visionary philanthropist Padma Shri Dr. D. Y. Patil, the medical college began operations in 1996 before gaining deemed university status in 2003 via UGC notification; it received Category-I status in 2018 and inclusion under UGC Section 12B, evolving into Maharashtra's leading private health sciences provider under current leadership.
