Introduction

Kamala Nehru College is a premier women’s college affiliated with the University of Delhi, devoted to empowering women through quality higher education. Established in 1964, the college has consistently fostered academic excellence and cultural growth, blending tradition with modernity to create a nurturing learning environment. It is a renowned all-women institution known for fostering academic excellence in arts, commerce, and social sciences streams. It was founded under the vision to provide women students with quality higher education and opportunities for comprehensive development. The college is accredited 'A' grade by NAAC and is part of the University of Delhi's South Campus network.

History & Establishment

Kamala Nehru College was established in 1964 as the Government College for Women, initially located in Defence Colony, New Delhi. Renamed Modern College for Women in 1966, it received its present name in 1974 after freedom fighter Kamala Nehru.The foundation stone of the current campus on August Kranti Marg was laid by President Shri V.V. Giri in 1972. The college has grown from a small beginning with 16 staff members and 209 students in its first graduating batch (1968) to a prominent institution.

The campus is approximately 10 acres with well-maintained sports grounds, computer labs, gymnasium, and eco-friendly classrooms including bamboo rooms. Facilities include a beautiful auditorium, established through fund-raising by staff and students, inaugurated in 1991 by then Vice-President Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma.

• Admissions are based on the University of Delhi guidelines with applications for UG and PG courses accepted through the Delhi University portal.
