Introduction 

Government College of Engineering, Karad (GCE Karad or GCEK), established in 1960 as Maharashtra's first post-independence government engineering college, is an autonomous institute approved by AICTE and affiliated with Shivaji University, Kolhapur, offering UG/PG/PhD programs on a 50-acre campus in Vidyanagar, Karad, with over 13,000 alumni serving in core industries and PSUs.​

History and Establishment

Founded by Late Y.B. Chavan at Ogalewadi (1957 diploma start), shifted to Vidyanagar (1960) with B.E. in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical; PG from 1967; autonomous since 2015 (UGC); produced 13,000+ engineers.​
